We have exciting and engaging extended schools and enrichment programmes. These include extra-curricular classes, trips and visits and special events. We will provide residential and personal development experiences and opportunities for young people to participate in their local community. We are developing a comprehensive programme of after-school clubs and activities.
Saturday “booster” classes and weekend residentials help raise attainment and provide extra support in key areas including coursework and exam techniques. Homework clubs run after school and the library is open until 5.00pm in the evening and before school from 7.45am.
Enrichment refers to activities that encourage the subject based skills ensuring greater success in that subject, as well as activities that give broader experience to students. These experiences not only help students to perform better in interviews when competing with others from different backgrounds, but also demonstrate a more rounded character that helps when applying for university or jobs. Each course offers enrichment that develops the students’ subject skills. In addition we expect students to take advantage of the wide range of opportunities that the academy offers such as:
• Community work outside the academy which includes work with local Primary Schools
• Sporting activities including football, basketball, table tennis, rock climbing and more
• Leadership opportunities
• Debate Mate
• Duke of Edinburgh awards
• Extended project
• First Aid
• Mentoring younger students
…..and many more!
