Sixth Form Open Evening
We are celebrating remarkable GCSE results after 78% of our students achieved five GCSE grades A* - C including English and maths. These results could see Ark St Alban’s positioned as one of the best performing non-selective schools in the city.
It’s an incredible journey of success for the school whose results were languishing at 31% before joining the Ark network in 2009. This year’s results have seen 84% of students achieve A* - C in maths, and 84% in English - a considerable achievement for a school with 72% EAL (English as an Additional Language) students.
Aiming for Oxford
Wissam was shaking as she opened her results live on Capital radio – she achieved four A*s, five As and two Bs.
“I got an A* in maths! I can't believe it, I'm so pleased! Next year I'll be studying maths, physics, computer science and geography A levels at Ark St Alban's. My plan is to go to university to studt engineering of some sort - I'm aiming for Oxford. I think Ark St Alban's is a great school - teachers come and run Saturday sessions for us so we get all the support we need."
Wissam is also celebrating being the student who made the most progress between Year 7 and Year 11 across the whole of the Ark network - an amazing achievement.
On opening his results, also on radio, Mahmood said, “I can finally rest! I want to go to university to study veterinary science – I’m aiming for Oxford. I’d like to have my own practice one day.” He will now go on to study Chemistry, Biology and Maths at A level.
Many students are going on to study their A levels at Ark St Alban’s Sixth Form which this year achieved an impressive 99% A level pass rate, among the highest in the city.
Mark Gregory, Principal at Ark St Alban’s Academy, said:
“I am thrilled with this year’s GCSE results which have exceeded even our very high expectations. Over the last seven years we’ve built a school community that prides itself on academic excellence, and on outstanding outcomes for everyone, regardless of background. These results are testament to the support of our parents, the hard work of our students and to the unwavering dedication of our staff who never stop striving for better.”
