Wednesday 05 February 2014

The St Alban’s indoor rowing team had an outstanding day at the Birmingham School Games on Thursday 6th February taking home Gold in the Year 10 boys team event, Gold and Silver in the boys Year 10 individual sprint event, and Silver in the girls Year 11 team event.

Mark Hoban, Head of PE, said, “I could not be prouder of what our students achieved at the Games.  They have worked incredibly hard, training at 7.45am three mornings each week, and they all thoroughly deserved these medals”.  The winning Year 10 boys team will now go through to the national championships to be held later in the year.  They will also attend an awards ceremony in Birmingham to be presented with their trophy.

On meeting the St Alban’s students at the event, the Lord Mayor of Birmingham, Councillor Mike Leddy, said that they were “a credit to themselves and to St Albans Academy”.
