A very successful mentor and mentee matching event!

Mentor and mentee session

The Girls Network is a very exclusive and prestigious programme that supports underrepresented, but high achieving girls in our community. It links social mobility with success and bridges the gap between disadvantaged girls due to their socioeconomic status. Female pupils are given a professional female mentor for 10 months and are expected to have one 1-hour sessions each month where they will meet their mentor that will raise aspirations and empower them to achieve within their next steps. This photo captures the first session where pupils met their mentors. To kick start the session, pupils were given the opportunity to speak to each mentor 1:1 in a carousel rotation, this was to ensure that they had the opportunity to network and be matched with the best professional that we believe will enhance their development. Once matched, pupils had a 1:1 with their mentor to discuss the outcome of the support they can expect to receive for the duration of the programme. It was a truly inspiring event for all participants.

As part of Character and exploring the big question 'where am I going next?' pupils are given the opportunity to meaningfully engage with employers and apprenticeship providers so they can make well informed decisions about their futures.
