Please remember that the school gates open for pupils to arrive to school at 8.10am.
All pupils must be through the gate and into school before 8.20am. Please remind your child not to leave it until the last possible moment to arrive. We have seen an increase in recent weeks of pupils spending time in Horton Square in the mornings. Horton Square is not a safe place – it is an area that has one of the highest crime rates in Birmingham.
If you would like your child to arrive to school before 8.10am or to have a safe space to meet friends, the school operates a free breakfast club that all pupils can attend and which does not need you to sign-up to in advance.
Pupils arriving to school on time is very important. Late pupils often miss important announcements and miss the opportunity to speak to their form tutor or Head of Year in the morning. This often leads to disruption later in the day because pupils are less prepared for what is coming up. Pupils also receive a detention for arriving after 8.20am and this is not the positive way that we all want children to begin school each morning. It is also important to note that significant lateness, arriving well after 8.20am means that they miss the morning register and receive an absence mark.
Please do everything you can to support your child arriving to school on time every day.
