The pupils on the Generating Genius – STEM Like US Programme, had their final session and celebration ceremony.
The focus of the session was ‘career options’, pupils were learning about all options they could do post 16/18 (sixth form/college: A-level, BTEC or T-level, apprenticeship: levels & roles, university: courses & levels), as well as participating in quizzes to test the prior knowledge. Pupils also learnt about the world of work with a focal point on CV, cover letters and assessment centres /interviews.
A few pupils were interviewed about their experience of the programme, and these interviews will be used to evaluate the success and effectiveness of the programme for future improvements. Moreover, for their contributions, they received a £40 Amazon gift voucher. As a reward and incentive for the rest of the pupils that participated, they also received a £15 Amazon gift voucher. Generating Genius – STEM Like US was a programme that focuses on STEM careers. Pupils were all given a series of 4 mentoring sessions with a professional that works within the STEM industry, each lasting 1 hour. Pupils benefitted from learning about careers and employability skills to do with STEM, which will really enhance and add value to their overall development. The initial programme started when pupils were in year 10, which saw them right through until year 11.

As part of Character and exploring the big question 'where am I going next?' pupils are given the opportunity to meaningfully engage with employers and apprenticeship providers so they can make well informed decisions about their futures.
