The Girls That Geek Event
The Girls that Geek event was an inspiring and empowering experience from start to finish. Hearing from a diverse range of accomplished women-through both guest speaker sessions and career panels-was truly motivating, as each shared their unique and exciting journey. One of the highlights was exploring the creative work of guest speaker Keeley Traae, whose artwork captivated everyone. Alongside this, we had the chance to get hands-on with a variety of cutting‑edge technology, including virtual reality, DJ mixing, mini car robotics, plasticine animation, and light painting. These interactive experiences added a fun and engaging dimension to the day.
To conclude our vibrant and uplifting event, guest speaker Alima Rico gave a live musical performance, singing and playing guitar-a perfect ending to an already inspiring day.
We are sincerely grateful to all the empowering women who made the event possible, and we extend special thanks to the incredible team at the Midlands Art Centre for hosting such a memorable experience.
As part of Character and exploring the big question 'Where am I going next?' pupils are allowed to meaningfully engage with employers and apprenticeship providers so they can make well-informed decisions about their futures.
