We were very proud of the results that Year 11 pupils achieved in their GCSE exams and we are excited to welcome so many of them into the sixth form.
It was incredibly joyful to celebrate with pupils and their families, and to be able to make exciting plans for their futures. While we are proud of all of their successes, there were some particularly noteworthy successes.
Amy achieved an incredible seven Grade 9s and two Grade 8s and is planning to study A levels in Chemistry, Maths, Biology and Psychology at Ark St Alban’s Sixth Form. “I am excited to study A levels and I plan to study medicine at university to achieve my goal of becoming a doctor.”
Norah achieved straight 9s in Triple Sciences, Grade 9 in RE, three Grade 8s and three Grade 7s. Norah is planning to study A levels in Maths, Physics and Chemistry.
Armanul achieved six Grade 8s and three Grade 7s and is planning to study A levels in Maths, Further Maths, Psychology and History.
Overall the results that pupils achieved showed a return to similar standards as in 2019 following the huge success of recent years and as well as reflecting the hard work of our Year 11 pupils, they also demonstrated the resilience of this year group who experienced a particularly disrupted journey during their time in the school.

Maths continues to be a subject in which pupils at our school make excellent progress. It is likely that the amount of progress that pupils make in maths at our school will continue to be in the top 10% compared to schools nationally.
We are also very proud of our scientists, with those studying triple science all achieving at least a grade 6 in all three.
Principal, Mr Rimmer, said "Well done Year 11! I have very honestly really enjoyed being your headteacher for the last three years.
If you remember, when I started at the school you were in Year 9 and it was a crazy time when your year group was split up all over the school. Because of Covid bubbles, your classrooms were in very unusual places: art rooms, portacabins, the space that used to be the library and even the fitness suite! Once I found where you all were, yours was the year group that I probably got to know best (for many different reasons!).
At your best, as a group, you are smart, funny and thoughtful. You have good friendships within your year group and you know how to look after one another and I really respect that.
I’m excited to find out what each of you will grow up to be; what courses you will study, what jobs you will do and what adventures your will go on. The rest of the summer break should be a time of rest and reflection for all of you, with September then being a fresh-start whatever you plan to study and wherever you end up studying.
My advice – be ambitious! If you work hard, you can achieve brilliant things and you can make a great life for yourself and for your family. Set yourself goals and then be determined and disciplined about achieving them.
Regardless of whether or not you are leaving St Alban’s or coming back for sixth form, St Alban’s will always be your secondary school – the place you spent a hugely important time in your life. Therefore, St Alban’s will always care about you and be interested in you and your future. You can come back to us for advice and for guidance, and you can come back to us to tell us your story – whether that is in a few months to tell us about how you are getting on at college, or in a few years to tell us about how your life is unfolding. We will always be interested and we will always care.
I want you to know that as you go out into the world, we’ve got your back, we care about you and we believe in you.
