Year 12 pupils were fortunate to hear from a representative from Aston University about transitioning to higher education. The talk covered the plethora of courses on offer, university lifestyle, student finance and academic learning delivery. This was a very interactive and positive session, and pupils were able to ask questions about any concerns they had about attending university. The representative also spoke about the university’s Pathways to Professions programme, which is a unique initiative for pupils considering Aston as there HE destination. This will enable pupils to participate in a university programme that will enhance their preparedness and receive special considerations for a contextual two-grade reduction for their chosen higher education course, if they successfully complete the programme. The talk also covered the UCAS process, which is the platform used for making applications for all UK wide universities. There was also mention on student finance, personal statements and deadlines for certain courses like, medicine and dentistry.
