Some of our Year 12 students were fortunate to visit the BBC, where they embarked on an exciting and immersive journey into the world of broadcasting and media production.

Their visit began in the BBC Live broadcast set and news gallery, where they rotated through various behind-the-scenes roles including Presenter, Floor Manager, Vision Mixer, Sound Engineer, Lighting Technician, Autoque Operator, Director, Production Coordinator, and Technical Crew. This vibrant and exhilarating experience gave our students firsthand insight into the teamwork and precision that bring live news to life.

Following this, students attended a Radio Workshop led by seasoned professionals. They learned about the unique career journeys of the broadcasters, which was both inspiring and informative.

In the afternoon, students participated in an Applications and Apprenticeships Workshop, where they explored pathways into BBC careers. They heard directly from a current apprentice who shared valuable tips and personal experiences to help guide our pupils toward future success.

The visit concluded with a Social Media & AI Workshop, which offered a fascinating look into the evolving role of artificial intelligence in media. This practical session showcased how AI is being used as a powerful tool to enhance learning and professional skills.

As part of Character and exploring the big question 'Where am I going next?' pupils are allowed to meaningfully engage with employers and apprenticeship providers so they can make well-informed decisions about their futures.
