Our pupils on the Career Ready Programme were fortunate to go on their second workplace visit to the Arcadis offices in the City Centre.
Pupils participated in a session as part of National Apprenticeship Week, where they were able to find out more about apprenticeships and all the apprenticeships that Arcadis has available and routes into many pathways. They had the opportunity to attend a networking lunch to speak to all the current apprentices/graduates that work for the organisation. In the afternoon pupils were put into two teams and were tasked with a Green Living Project.
The focus was looking at the impact of housing developments on the environment and the community. Pupils designed and produced a model layout of a sustainable, mixed housing development, as well as producing a tender document and presented their ideas to other group/employers. Pupils got creative and were given various roles which were, project manager, architect, civil engineer, sustainability manager, quantity surveyor and bid manger. The session focussed on teamwork skills, creativity, and adaptability.
