Pupils share their reflections on the experience:

The trip to watch 'Othello' at the Sam Wannamaker Playhouse in London, connected to the world-famous Globe Theatre, allowed us to not only gain a better insight of the play but it also allowed us to have a physical connection, since the venue is so small and intimate. It was amazing to see ‘ocular proof’ of how the characters are feeling and behaving, specifically the character of Michael Cassio, who particularly hooked the attention of the ladies due to his amazing performance and appearance. The production of the play, including the beautiful candle lighting and wonderful music, made the characters bounce off the stage and not simply be mere puppets on paper. Overall, the trip was incredible and definitely helpful in terms of understanding Shakespeare’s themes and characters better (Atiah, Year 13).

Absolute pleasure to be part of this trip because of the beauty of London and the masterclass of the play we watched today! (Mohamed, Year13)

A phenomenal trip with amazing acting and ambience. Really, really enjoyed it! (Amira and Linah, Year 13)

The characters portrayed the raw emotions depicted in the play.  We especially enjoyed the character of Michael Cassio and his development.  The relationship between him and Desdemona really portrayed true friendship (Sumaya, Year 13, Aminah S and Aminah A, Year 12).

Very enjoyable.  Great acting and the singing was immaculate (Prince, Year 12).
