As part of an ongoing commitment to careers education and work readiness, a group of pupils recently took part in the HSBC Exclusive Employer Insight Event, gaining invaluable exposure to the world of financial services and professional development.
Held at HSBC’s offices, the day-long event was designed to build key employability skills and inspire future career choices. Pupils were welcomed with refreshments and networking opportunities before diving into a packed agenda that included interactive sessions, panel discussions, and office tours.
The morning sessions focused on demystifying HSBC’s core business areas: Commercial Banking (CMB) and Wealth & Personal Banking (WPB). Through engaging activities and direct interaction with professionals, pupils gained insight into the roles, responsibilities, and career paths within these departments.
A networking lunch provided a relaxed setting for pupils to build confidence and communication skills while connecting with HSBC staff. This was followed by a panel discussion titled “What Does It Mean to Be a Degree Apprentice?”, where current apprentices shared their journeys and answered questions about the support and opportunities available at HSBC.
In the afternoon, pupils participated in a video interview workshop, learning how to prepare for and succeed in virtual recruitment processes. The day concluded with office tours and networking rotations, offering a glimpse into HSBC’s working environment and culture.
The event wrapped up with a summary of key dates and application processes, helping pupils understand the next steps toward a potential future with HSBC. Surveys and feedback were collected to ensure continuous improvement of the programme.
This exclusive insight event not only showcased HSBC’s commitment to youth development but also empowered pupils to take ownership of their career journeys. With a focus on confidence, communication, integrity, and accountability, the experience left a lasting impression on all who attended.
