Our Year 10 pupils recently took part in a highly successful Work Experience Week, with the vast majority of pupils spending four days in a range of workplaces across a variety of industries. These valuable experiences gave pupils first-hand insight into the world of work, helping them to develop essential employability skills, build confidence, and gain a greater understanding of the opportunities available to them in the future.

Pupils completed placements across numerous sectors, experiencing the realities of the workplace, learning from professionals, and developing skills that will support them in their future education and career journeys.

For the smaller number of pupils who remained in school, an exciting programme of enriching career-focused activities was delivered.

These included:

  • The Rise and KPMG Employability Workshops
  • Virtual Guest Speaker Assemblies with Meet the Dell Team and KPMG
  • The Intercity Technology Careers Panel
  • South & City College Ozobots and Post-16 Workshop
  • The Regenerative AI Roadshow
  • A Behind-the-Scenes Workplace Visit to Morrisons, providing pupils with an insight into retail operations and the variety of careers available within the sector.

Every experience offered throughout the week has brought tremendous value, inspiration and momentum to our pupils. Whether attending a work placement or participating in the in-school programme, pupils have developed a deeper understanding of the skills, behaviours and opportunities that will help shape their future aspirations and success.

We are incredibly proud of the maturity, professionalism and enthusiasm demonstrated by our Year 10 pupils throughout the week. We extend our sincere gratitude to all our partnerships and employers for making this experience possible for our pupils.

As part of Character and exploring the big question 'Where am I going next?' pupils are allowed to meaningfully engage with employers and apprenticeship providers so they can make well-informed decisions about their futures.
