Powering Transformations Event
year 7 visited the University of Warwick.
Powering Transformation invites pupils to the university for the day to gain an insight into higher education, university life and the world of work. It offers a problem-solving challenge to highlight how tech can help solve social or environmental challenges.
Our pupils participated in a range of activities that involved them working together as a team and encouraged them to use their critical thinking skills. They were set a challenge in each team to build a robotic car.
They also worked on individual projects in their teams that focused on socioeconomic and environmental issues, for which they had to come up with viable solutions to combat these challenges that they identified.
Each group then were taken into the lecture theatre and presented their ideas to the other groups, university representatives, student ambassadors and a professional who formed part of the judging panel. The winning team achieved special certificates for their efforts and impressing the judges. All pupils also achieved a certificate for participation.
Pupils also got taken on a campus tour and saw the University of Warwick’s newly built Faculty of Arts building, which was a beautiful piece of architecture that our pupils really appreciated.
