In recent weeks and in the weeks ahead there are an enormous number of school trips taking place. I am really excited about the range of experiences that pupils will be enjoying. You can follow their adventures via the news page of the website: https://arkstalbans.org/news
Below I have included information and updates to guide you through the next few weeks.
Trips
Last week, we started our busy series of trips with a residential trip to Cornwall. Every year group was represented as pupils explored the coastline and learned to scuba dive.
Please refer to the school calendar for future dates of upcoming trips.
Assessments
Pupils in Year 11 will almost all finish their GCSE exams this week, with Year 11 formally ending their school year on Monday. Year 13 will also depart at the end of this week, with those who still have exams to complete beginning a period of study leave.
Pupils in all other year groups began their end of year assessments today and these assessments will continue in the weeks ahead. It is very important that pupils attend school everyday to avoid falling behind on their tests.
Results, grades and reports will be published in the final week of term and please remember to save the date of Friday 21st July which will be Progress Day.
Building Project
This summer, a series of improvements will be made to the school building:
1. Increasing the number of toilets available to pupils and break and lunch times
2. Expanding the playground space
3. Making the school entrance safer by building a perimeter fence
There is a consultation event scheduled for July (more information below) where I will outline the plans in more detail and seek feedback.
I know that there has been some concern about changes to the toilet facilities, but I can confirm that all toilets built will match the design and layout of the existing toilets. I hope to be able to share drawings and designs with parents in the weeks ahead.
Consultation Events
As we plan for the next academic year, there will be a series of parent consultation events to hear the views of parents on three specific topics. Each consultation event will take place between 4-5pm and will allow parents to provide their feedback on the topic being discussed.
- Relationships and Sex Education; Thurs 22nd June
- Building Project; Tues 4th July
- Home-school Communication; Thurs 13th July
Teacher Training Day
Remember, school will be closed to pupils on Thursday 6th July for an Ark Schools teacher training day.
