Work Experience

This year, work experience is scheduled to take place on Tuesday 11th and Wednesday 12th July. We are seeking two-day placements for pupils, but would also appreciate shorter, one-day placements or longer week long placements. 

We are looking for placements in a wide-variety of industries and workplaces.

Experiences of the world of work are too often limited to a privileged few and we want to change that. 

Our aim is to:

• Help give pupils experience of seeing how different workplaces function
• Help pupils understand the tasks different jobs involve and the different skills required
• Help pupils to understand the routes into different sectors and the range of roles within them
• Develop pupil character including confidence, teamwork, courage and perseverance

The commitment we are asking from employers includes: 

• Providing an experience of the workplace that allows pupils to observe, and where possible get involved with, the work conducted by the organisation. The school will provide structured reflection tasks for the pupils to work through, so there is a lower planning demand on the employer.
• Nomination of a suitable supervisor who will be the point of contact for the pupil/s for the duration of the placement and who will ensure the pupil is supervised directly throughout.
• Ensuring the employer has a package of Employer’s Compulsory Liability and Public Liability Insurance. These policies will cover the pupil as a visitor, and you do not need to inform your insurer.
• Being responsible for the health, safety, and welfare of the pupil.
