Our approach
The Design & Technology curriculum helps pupils develop their analytical, problem solving, practical capability and evaluation skills. Through a variety of creative and practical activities, pupils are taught the knowledge, understanding and skills needed to engage in a process of designing and making.
Pupils are taught technical drawings skills through one-point perspective, two-point perspective, isometric and orthographic techniques; this progresses to Computer Aided Design (CAD) and Computer Aided Manufacture (CAM). They work with a range of materials including electronics, textiles and graphics through a topic-based approach which allows for cross curricular links to be made, which allows them to be iterative and innovative in their design and making. We teach our pupils to plan and revise designs for a range of purposes and audiences.
