Our approach
The Psychology curriculum aims to build student confidence in writing in a scientific manner throughout the course. Pupils participate in reading, writing and speaking to process new information. These models are followed on a departmental level and are planned so that teachers are consistent in their approach to preparing the students for their A level exams and beyond.
Tri-weekly written assessments allow students to showcase their understanding of skills (skills of critical analysis, interpretation, evaluation, reflection and communication) and content. The format also mirrors one of the examination techniques, writing evaluative essays, and hence prepares students well for being examined on the unit content. Students are supported to progressively develop this skill through the 2 years with varying degrees of structure being provided. Following assessments, data is reviewed and analysed by teachers, the students through self-evaluation and the HoD.
