Empowering young people through innovation and education. Explore Blueprint for All, a dynamic organisation committed to building a brighter future for all. They work with young people, communities and organisations to create an inclusive society in which everyone, regardless of race, ethnicity or background is provided with tangible opportunities to thrive.
Every person, regardless of their background, has the opportunity and support to flourish in a society that recognises and values them. As part of our work experience week in year 10, some pupils will be participating on this programme with Blueprint for All. To kick-start the programme, all pupils in year 10 had an assembly address from a representative from the organisation and from a professional that spoke to them about their own career journey. Selected pupils then participated in workshops over the course of the week that focused on ‘What it takes to be an ‘Entrepreneur’, ‘Skills for Success’ and ‘Building your Future’.
We took selected pupils to the Midlands Art Centre (MAC) as they were offering an Insight Day for pupils that are passionate about a career in the Creative Industry. The day consisted of tours, talks, a Q&A, and an interactive workshop. Pupils had the opportunity to engage in a careers speed networking carousel with some professionals, such as a customer support manager who was previously a lawyer, a community manager, a light production engineer and a musician. In small groups, pupils were also tasked with creating a project for a concept for pensioners to enjoy an activity that will last approximately 2hours. Each group then delivered their ideas to all attendees.
This was such an exciting opportunity to learn more about working in the Creative Industry sector and different career journeys. This event was an opportunity for pupils to hear from individuals who have a background in creativity and gain insight as well as get hands-on practise in some of the aspects of the application process to secure these types of careers. Pupils engaged well and were able to develop confidence, teamwork and communication skills, that will benefit their career development.
As part of Character and exploring the big question 'where am I going next?' pupils are given the opportunity to meaningfully engage with employers and apprenticeship providers so they can make well informed decisions about their futures.
