Students celebrate best ever Year 13 results!

The A-Level and BTEC results achieved by pupils this year means that St Alban’s Academy Sixth Form is one of the most successful in the country.

This week Sixth Form students at Ark St Alban’s Academy are celebrating remarkable success in A-Level and BTEC exams. Pupils have gained places at elite universities including Oxford, Warwick, Queen Mary and the University of Birmingham.

86% of pupils secured a minimum of three 3Cs or higher and almost two-thirds of the cohort achieved a minimum of 3Bs and as a result, our students have gained places on the most competitive university courses with multiple students going on to study medicine, law and computer science.

Amal is one of the school’s top performing students, securing an incredible A*A*A*A . Amal will study Medicine at the University of Birmingham. She said, “Becoming a doctor is a great privilege and responsibility to me, and it is a career where I will be able to directly see the positive impact I have on society. I want to be there to ensure that a patient is heard, and to allow patients a judgement-free space to express their concerns.” 

Nadia achieved AAAA and will read History at the University of Oxford. She said, “As the first person from my family to attend university, I plan to set a precedent and an example for not just my younger siblings but also people in my community to prioritise their education and to persevere through difficulties.” 

Armanul achieved AAA and is going to the University of Birmingham to study Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence. He said, “I am motivated by the idea that I am the first person within my family to attend university. It has been a long-term passion for me to immerse myself in technology and help contribute to the advances within the industry. Seeing the rise of AI in my generation has really inspired me.” 

BTEC Business and BTEC Applied Science students also achieved outstanding success. 75% of our pupils studying BTEC courses achieved a minimum of D*DD (the equivalent of three Bs) and as a result will go on to study a range of subjects including Engineering, Law, Biomedical Sciences and International Relations at the University of Warwick, the University of Birmingham and Aston University, amongst others.  

Maryam achieved the highest grade possible in the BTEC Extended Diploma in Applied Science, D*D*D*, and will achieve her dream of studying Midwifery at the University of Birmingham. Tasnimah Begum also achieved D*D*D* and has secured a place at Aston University to study Audiology. Abdifatah Jeylani achieved D*D*D* and has secured a place at Aston University to study Engineering. 

In BTEC Business, Amina Diya  achieved the top grade of D*D*D* and will study International Law and Globalisation at the University of Birmingham. Ahmed Hussen achieved D*D*D has secured his place on Accounting and Finance at the University of Birmingham. 

Principal Guy Rimmer said: “Our Year 13 students have worked very hard and should be congratulated on their wonderful achievements. It is fantastic seeing so many secure the A level and BTEC grades needed to allow them to progress on to selective universities of their choice. We are very proud of them.
